Mixed Media Necklaces

Rusy Old Thing - the back copper piece was cut, fired to anneal, then covered with gesso.  I used colored pencils to "paint" the piece.  The top 2 pieces were scrap that I hammered, embossed and riveted on together. SS wire ties them all together with spacers between and a blue glass bead for color.  The necklace hangs 15" from a SS chain with a SS lobster claw.

Dig Deep - a 1.75" piece of copper was cut and hammered to add texture. It was then folded in half and opened up, creating a crevice.  A sterling piece of wire was flattened on the ends, and wired onto the copper. The necklace hangs 18" from 2mm black leather cord on black cord ends.

I See You - the back piece of copper was etched with a face. I textured a SS piece of sheet and cut a hole in the center. I did the same process to a smaller piece of copper. The top 2 pieces were riveted and wired together with a glass ring. I wired the two main pieces together around the outer edges.  The piece hangs 17" by SS wire on a 3mm black leather cord.

Piece Of My Heart - one of my favorite necklaces - 2 etched copper hearts with a SS heart riveted in between. Necklace hangs 9.5" from a copper bail on five strands of stainless steel wire.  This would make a great Valentine's Day gift!

Kelp Forest - 6 copper pieces were cut and enameled in blue, green and rust. They were joined with jump rings to form a house, including the door knob. A blue/green silk ribbon trails out of the house while a purple/green furry feather sprouts from the top. Necklace hangs 18" on a 2mm green leather cord.

Blues - the back piece has been burnt until I got the color I wanted - yellows, blues, reds, greens. It's amazing what metal will do under fire.  I took a piece of silver sheet that didn't quite turn out what I wanted and riveted on top of the copper.
